Welcome to my blog! My name is Katelyn Davidson and I’m a senior majoring in Mass Communication and Media Studies at ASU. I’m 28 years old, born and raised in Arizona. In this blog, I’m covering digital media literacy and tackling misinformation.
This blog covers digital media literacy because it has become important for us to be media literate as we are media consumers and creators. NAMLE describes media literacy as “the ability to access, analyze, evaluate, create, and act using all forms of communication.” This is an ongoing process and is essential in our 21st-century digital world. I hope that through this blog I can practice and show what I have learned about digital media literacy and hopefully you can learn something too.
As an undergraduate student who lacks formal qualifications, I make up for that with a curiosity to continue my media literacy journey and inspire others to become media literate. I also hope to infuse some of my personality into this blog, such as my love of cats (like the picture at the bottom) and my favorite color pink! Through my work on this blog, I strive to follow the Mediactive principles of being thorough, accurate, fair, civil, and transparent, and to demonstrate independent thinking.
