Better Mode describes an online community as, “a group of people who interact online around a shared interest, challenge, or goal.” Let’s go on a journey together where we learn about media literacy and misinformation. Let’s learn from each other, share ideas, and become more media-literate citizens of the 21st century.
- Philosophy: This blog is a safe and inclusive space for all to discuss topics relating to media literacy and combatting misinformation. This blog “is dedicated to building an environment that encourages open discussion, thought and participation…,” as described in Massive Science’s Community Engagement Guidelines.
- Commenters of this blog are expected and encouraged to engage in healthy debate.
- But when expressing disagreement, commenters must be kind, respectful, and polite.
- There is zero tolerance on this blog for harassment and/or hate speech. Any kind of bullying and offensive comments relating to race, sexual orientation, gender or gender identity, sex, religion, or culture will not be tolerated. The comment(s) will be removed from the blog and the user will be banned.
- Comments must be relevant to the topics discussed on this blog. Irrelevant comments will be removed, and the user will receive one warning. Noncompliance will result in the user receiving an outright ban.
- Comments containing spam, advertising, and/or promotion will be removed from the blog. The user will be given one warning. Noncompliance will result in the user receiving an outright ban.
- Users may flag a comment that they believe violates these guidelines by clicking on the “Report Comment” button directly underneath a comment. If a minimum of three users have flagged the comment, it will automatically be reviewed.
